Guided writing is writing by children achieved with your guidance and instruction. Children's writing may be related to the shared and guided reading sessions, classroom community events, projects, or individual topics of interest.
In this child-centred workshop, children work as a community of learners who support one another through sharing and responding.
As children are writing, you may meet with individuals to confer with them about their writing process, skills, strategies, and content. Although childen may select their own topics, their writing pieces may be an extension of an independent, shared, or guided reading experience.
