Developing Early Literacy Skills through Explicit and Systematic Phonics Instruction (20th Intake)
A 3-day Intensive workshop by Dr Alice TangDiscover Phonics Foundation with Alice for yourself. Presented through direct instruction, Phonics Foundation employs a multisensory, systematic and explicit phonics instruction based on developmentally appropriate principles of early literacy instruction.
The Phonics Foundation method trains and equips children with word recognition strategies that significantly strengthen their visual ability to identify word patterns, apart from the essential training of blending to read and segmenting to spell.
The Phonics Foundation programme begins with prior knowledge of phonemic awareness to learning the letter sounds and culminates with decoding skills that give children a systematic strategic plan to read unknown words.
The 3 days of intensive workshops of participative instructions help participants acquire the requisite knowledge and skills that allow them to effectively and strategically teach the 44+ phonemes to young children.

Thank you so much for the course. I’ve enjoyed learning how to teach children how to blend and segment at the same time. This workshop allows me to try & know my errors and know where to work form there.
I’ve learnt a lot more on segmenting. There are techniques doing segmenting. I find it very useful and knowledgeable so that I can teach my students correctly.

Dr Alice Tang (EdD)
Alice completed a Doctorate in Education at The University of Western Australia. She holds both a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Management from RMIT University and a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College. For the last 15 years, Alice has been actively involved in the design, implementation, assessment and intervention of school wide literacy programmes. Alice has established a reputation as a highly perceptive and knowledgeable educator with an uncommon adroitness in addressing the nuances of teaching and managing in a multi-cultural Singaporean setting based on sound pedagogy.
